Outdoor Learning

At Littlegreen we have wonderful school grounds that enable us to spend quality time learning in the great outdoors. Our woodland and wildlife friendly areas provide our boys with calming space where they can reflect, interact with nature and wildlife and develop a wide range of personal and social skills. Research tells us that having regular access to green spaces improves both mental and physical health and helps young people to better appreciate the world and the people around them.

Governor Jess Maier as our Mystery Reader

Governor Jess Maier as our Mystery Reader

Lower School have a mystery reader on a Friday morning each week. This is where an individual reads a book to the children and then children have time to ask the reader questions about their career. Jessica Maier, Littlegreen Governor was our first mystery reader of 2021. Written by Fay Cripps, Head of Learning - KS2 Jess was our first virtual Mystery Reader and she chose the Night Bus to read to lower school. Jess had all four classes gripped with the scary story of the man with the yellow face. Bailey asked how old the book was because it talked about the boy visiting a photobooth. After Jess finished reading, Lloyd wanted to know who she was? Jess told us that she is a Governor for our school and lives just up the road and can see Littlegreen from her house. We learnt that Jess went to an art school and studied to be a Graphic Designer. A Graphic Designer is someone that creates adverts, logos, labels, packaging for products using pictures and letters. Jess show us some examples - Branston pickle label, magazine cover, recipe card and an instruction leaflet. Lloyd was very excited to find out that graphic designers could work for a gaming company.
